Lumi is an application I am currently working on bringing to reality with my tech startup Hephium. Lumi is an ai-integrated application that bridges the learning curve to beating a plant parent. Without giving away the surprise, Lumi uses AI to take your room or garden’s environment and curates a personalized plant-care schedule for your plants in the space.
Lumi will be available to download on the ios AppStore in early 2024!
Project R&D
Product ideation started with a pain point I experienced in my own life as a plant parent. I am grateful to have been able to combine my passion for design with my indoor jungle! We bag by identifying our user personas and what problems they faced, from this we found viable solutions for them using the power off machine learning and technology! From here, we knew what features to develop to solve these pain points:
AR Space Scan
Lumi’s AR space scan uses Apple’s Room Scan technology as well as other factors from the user’s environment to determine what conditions the user’s plant is in. This feature will allow Lumi to locate the user’s plants as well as their necessary information to then provide them with a curated, person plant-care guide that best suits their plant’s needs.
Personalized Plant Care
A personalized schedule for watering and fertilizing will be made for each of the user’s plants that they enter into Lumi. Users will be notified by Lumi when it is time to water or fertilize their plants. Alongside this, the light level, fertilizer type, soil type, pot type, and more conditions the user’s plant is in will be identified and compared to the plant’s ideal conditions.
Plant Database
Within Lumi, users can search through our database of plants to find plants that are fit for the conditions of their room or garden. They can search by a multitude of filters as well as be recommended plants that would thrive in their care. The database will prioritize native and local plants to the user to help combat the spread of popular, yet invasive house plants.
